2-Chloro-3-nitrobenzoic acid is mainly used in the synthesis of the following classes of drugs or active molecules:

Synthesis of Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
* Anthranilic acid derivatives: 2-Chloro-3-aminobenzoic acid is obtained by reducing its nitro group. This compound is a key intermediate in the synthesis of certain fenamic acid-based NSAIDs (such as mefenamic acid and flufenamic acid). These drugs are mainly used for analgesia, anti-inflammation, and antipyresis.

Synthesis of Antibacterial Drugs
